IWU Exceptional Learners Online Program Curriculum
You are enrolling in IWU's Exceptional Learners Online Program, a challenging exceptional education program that requires you to apply theory and skills as you learn them in an actual classroom setting. When you complete the program, not only are you prepared to take the licensure exam, you are ready to start a teaching position. How You Learn
The IWU's Exceptional Learners Program's curriculum covers how you teach an exceptional needs child as well as what you teach an exceptional needs child. Key to your success in the exceptional learners program is your ability to adapt what you learn for each child's needs.
IWU's exceptional education curriculum leverages a practice of "learning by doing." Whether you are participating in discussions in the exceptional learners program's virtual classroom, working on group projects, or conducting a practicum at your school, you are turning theory into practice.
Of the eight classes required to complete the exceptional learners program, six have assignments that must be completed in an actual classroom setting. You are not just studying for a standardized test; you are learning how to become one of the most important people in the life of an exceptional needs child.
What You Learn
The exceptional learners program prepares you to teach at the exceptional learners level. You are qualified to work with children with mild mental disabilities, emotional disorders, and learning disabilities. IWU’s Exceptional Learners Online Program's curriculum covers teaching the whole child, both mind and spirit. Understanding a child's needs and a careful evaluation of that child's challenges are mission critical for you as a teacher. The IWU Exceptional Learners Program provides in-depth instruction in the study skills your students will rely on both in and outside the safe haven that is your classroom.
